Hydrogen Peroxide H2O2
“Peroxide of Hydrogen is one of the most useful agents which we have in the treatment of diseases of the nose, throat and ear; its germicidal and antiseptic properties and its capacity to destroying pus and decaying organic mater, without injurious effect on healthy tissue, renders it almost indispensable in many cases….Peroxide of Hydrogen is not toxic, in fact it is used for internal medication, and the amount which can be taken without injurious effect is well illustrated … “Dr. W. Scheppegrell, A.M. MD. of New Orleans, La. (Medical Record, Aug: 8, 1896) |
The Therapeutic applications of Hydrzone and Glycozone, by Charles Marchand, chemist Rational Treatment of Diseases Characterized by the presence of pathogenic Germs, 18th Edition
This book on Hydrogen Peroxide was dedicated to the education of medical professionals before the drug era. First published in 1904, it contains about 300 reports written by doctors, describing their successful use of Hydrogen Peroxide both internally and externally. “The rational treatment of diseases characterized by the presence of pathogenic germs.” …using hydrogen peroxide!
If Hydrogen Peroxide did not hurt people then, it won’t hurt them now!
Properly diluted, hydrogen peroxide can be taken internally , used in foot baths, baths, sprayed on the skin after showering, sprayed on a sore throat, used to clean food, sterilize equipment, purify drinking water for man and animals, improve health for pets and livestock, speed germination of seeds, increase plant growth, destroy crop diseases (without toxic residue) and more.
With antibiotics loosing their effectiveness, perhaps we should keep a supply of peroxide on hand to treat antibiotic resistant microbes, and sterilize food such as imported and vegetables.
RECENT MEDICAL USES
In 1988, Ed McCabe, a medical reporter, published a book called OXYGEN THERAPIES describing hundreds of recent applications for Hydrogen Peroxide. Among the references is that of Dr. Rosenow of the Mayo Clinic (Longview Hospital) who recommended drinking hydrogen peroxide in a dilute solution.
Another recent user is Dr. Farr. He reports that Hydrogen Peroxide “kills bacteria, protozoa, yeast, and virus, has oxidized lipids from arterial walls, increased oxygen tension intracellularly, stimulates oxidative enzymes, returns elasticity to arterial walls, dilates coronary vessels and regulates membrane transport." IBOM #2 (p.189)
There is little economic interest in funding peroxide research or promoting its benefits as it is very cheap and non-patent-able. Even though over 7000 articles on hydrogen peroxide have been published in standard medical journals most doctors are unaware of its benefits.

35% FOOD GRADE 35% Food Grade is the only grade recommended for internal use. At this concentration, hydrogen peroxide is a very strong oxidizer and if not diluted it can be very dangerous or even fatal. Any concentration of over 10% can cause neurological reactions and damage to the upper gastrointestinal tract. |
STORAGE AND HANDING
The major problems with hydrogen peroxide are in storage, shipping and handling. Large containers require special handling for shipping. Containers under 20 oz. May be shipped under certain conditions provided they are clearly marked as “Consumer Commodity”.
Peroxide breaks down (dismutates) building up pressure in closed containers. This may cause containers to bulge and tip, possibly spilling peroxide and causing damage.
Peroxide stings the fingers shortly after contact and oxidizes dead skin turning it white for a little while but no damage is done.
Fortunately, plastic gloves and plastic containers and bottle caps that release pressure gradually as well as bottle caps with built in dispensers have overcome most of the problems associated with handling peroxide. Storing a safety marked container in the freezer reduces dismutation and prevents accidental usage.
Diluted hydrogen peroxide tastes horrible. No one would willingly drink a strong solution. Various companies now market forms of diluted hydrogen peroxide that have little or no offensive taste. Check your health food store for more information.
