The Cholesterol and Clogged Pipes Analogy
Doctors and medical "experts" like to compare clogged city sewer pipes, coated with layers of sludge, with the blood vessels of people who eat lots of cholesterol-rich foods (meat, cheese, eggs, etc.). This is a ridiculous analogy that borders on lunacy. Blood vessels are living structures with ever-changing cellular linings. Pipes are inanimate structures.
Scars, plaque, calcium, or even cholesterol do not build up on artery walls. Rather, they are found underneath the special cells that line the blood vessels. These deposits are found in random areas~never uniformly as the sludge inside pipes. Yet by maintaining this type of analogy, an emotional response can be triggered. This can lead to doctor visits and millions of prescriptions for statin (cholesterol-lowering) drugs. |
This viewpoint is nothing more than . It has no basis in fact or science. It is a form of emotional control that is powerful indeed. Despite the fact that this is simply propaganda, the fear of cholesterol and the disgust against cholesterol-rich foods can last a lifetime. And isn't that what the medical/pharmaceutical profession really want-patients for life?!

The pictures are worth a thousand words: Fight cholesterol buildup and unclog arteries with a simple supplement .
Over 30 years ago, two ophthalmologists observed that when they gave patients a combination tablet called “Iodo-niacin” (which contained 120 milligrams of iodide and 15 milligrams of niacin) and instructed them to take it for several months, the supplement actually reversed atherosclerotic clogging of arteries. And it's ha.rd to argue with their proof: They took pictures of clogged arteries in the backs of the eyes before and after treatment. The published “after” photographs showed a significant lessening of the cholesterol-laden artery clogging. |
Amazingly enough, no follow-up study has ever been published (probably because niacin and iodide aren't patentable). But the published pictures speak clearly for themselves. I learned about iodine's power to help “dissolve" oils. fats, and waxes (cholesterol is actually a wax) way back as a pre-med student. The famous Harvard chemistry professor Louis Feiser made a point of demonstrating this to my classmates and me, and he urged us to remember it in our medical practices (he told us he was sure it wouldn't be taught in medical school-he was right).
I took Professor Feiser's advice to heart and still recommend 4 to 6 drops of Iodine and a niacin- containing B-complex vitamin as part of a daily supplement regimen for anyone with significant cholesterol-related clogged arteries.
