FEELING MISERABLE and CHOLESTEROL
Here is an amazing statistic . . . If you are taking prescription drugs and you feel absolutely miserable, the odds are 50-50 that your medicine is responsible for how you feel. While researchers stop here, our research over 30 years with over 30,000 patients shows that in more than 85% of all cases, you do not need to be taking the drugs you have been prescribed. This amazing phenomenon is most notable with statin (cholesterol-lowering) drugs. Yet when I tell my patients they don't need to use these, they are stunned. It goes like this letter from one of my patients from New York . . . |
"Dear Dr. West, I feel absolutely terrible. I am scared to death because I am losing my memory rapidly. My muscles ache and I hurt all over. My feet are going numb and I have pins and needles everywhere. I can't control my blood sugar no matter what I eat. My ankles are swelling, and I have lost my sex drive."
When I questioned this patient, I discovered she had been on statin drugs for four years (these are generally prescribed for life). I told her to wean off the Lipitor with the help of her cardiologist. The response was typical. Her doctor was flabbergasted at the suggestion, but when pressured he did a blood test for her liver. The results were normal and he suggested she was just getting old, her symptoms were not related to the drugs, and the drugs were desperately needed to protect her from a heart attack.
Too miserable to swallow this, she found another doctor who weaned her off the drugs, and "miraculously" her problems disappeared over the course of the next six months. This is typical of statin use. Today millions of people are being made permanently ill with the use of these drugs. Since the pharmaceutical and medical industries––along with help from the media and the government––want more than 50 million people on these drugs, it is easy to see where we are headed –-toward permanent job security for me.

The Facts about Cholesterol
Seriously, if you are in this scenario, you have to use your head. Most cardiologists scare the day lights out of their patients. Without adequate data you also can be made permanently ill (and broke!) So get the facts. Here are just a few highlights: • Statins cause all the symptoms listed here, and more–-including congestive heart failure. • They interrupt hormone production and wreak havoc on your memory. And for what benefits. • Is the medical mantra "protection from heart disease and heart attacks" true? Hardly. If you look at the data of all the studies, you will find the same thing~people die at the same rate whether on or off statin drugs. These studies include: |
- MIRACL study of 2001
- ALLHAT study of 2002 - HEART PROTECTION STUDY of 2002 - PROSPER study of 2002 - J-LIT study of 2002 - STATINS AND WOMEN study of 2003 - ASCOT-LLA study of 2003 - a Meta-Analysis (summation) of all studies of 2003 - STATINS AND PLAQUE study of 2003 - PROVE-IT study of 2004 - REVERSAL STUDY of 2004 - and on and on. |
Honolulu Heart Report of 2001
Want the facts? Here they are. Want the details? There are millions. Want it quick and simple? Just look on the label of a Lipitor bottle. The fine print reads, LIPITOR has not been shown to prevent heart disease or heart attacks. So why would anyone subject themselves to the risks without the benefits? For absolute non-refutable data about the statin debacle, pick up a copy of the book The Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov, MD., PhD. If you want the information even quicker, log onto www.things.org.
Coming up in Health Alert will be the same expose on NSAIDS and other drugs that destroy the stomach. These drugs lead to a lack of digestive enzymes that affects 30 million Americans. The downward health spiral of indigestion and disease caused by this phenomenon is the main reason why antacids are now being gulped by just about everyone. We will show you how to end this medical disgrace and get a new lease on life.

FAT AND CHOLESTEROL DO NOT CAUSE HEART DISEASE
It is an absolute fact that fat and cholesterol in the diet do not raise cholesterol levels. Common sense proves this since millions of people who eat fat and cholesterol do not have high cholesterol. And millions of people who do not eat fat and cholesterol do have high cholesterol. And if common sense is not good enough for you, the medical research statistics, especially from the latest study on the cholesterol-lowering statin drug Vytorin, prove it. |
But this first absolute fact is not really relevant because of the second absolute fact: Raised cholesterol levels do not cause heart disease. Once again, common sense proves this because of the millions of people with low cholesterol levels and heart disease, and vice versa. Again, all the medical research (properly examined) proves it.
Naturally, since high cholesterol does not cause heart disease, statin (cholesterol~lowering) drugs cannot protect against heart disease. But you will never learn any of these facts because the fat and cholesterol research is slanted, skewed, taken out of context, and manipulated to sell drugs.
Another absolute fact is that a high-fat diet does not cause heart disease. This one is also easy to prove. You simply need to put up a map of the world and color the countries with the highest dietary fat intake red. Then put up the same map right next to it and color the countries with the highest heart disease rates blue. And much to the horror of the low-fat diet group, the two do not match. In fact, some countries with the highest fat intake have seven times less heart disease than countries with the lowest fat intake.
Naturally, since eating fat does not cause heart disease, the foremost medically prescribed low fat diet does not prevent or. cure heart disease. Of course, you will never be told any of this because it would cost drug makers billions of dollars. And it would leave doctors speechless when asked by their heart patients what diet they should follow.

What About Mortality Rates?
Medical studies are manipulated to produce results that prove these facts to be false. The quickest and easiest way drug companies do this is by omitting the most critical data from the study: What effect on total mortality (total deaths) does their drug, diet or treatment provide? There are dozens of medical studies showing that drug A or B is effective against heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, etc. But unless these studies can show an overall decrease in mortality (death rate) they are useless, because the patients taking the drugs die as soon or sooner than those taking a placebo or no drug. |
And after careful examination, you will find that close to zero drug studies show any substantial long-term mortality benefits. And that includes blood pressure drugs– which increase longevity on average nine days, and statin drugs– which increase longevity on average a few weeks to months.
It's easy to prove what you want in medical studies today~especially those studies where overall mortality is not factored in. For example, if you take 1,000 people and give half of them poison and the other half a placebo pill that looks just like poison, you can prove that poison prevents heart disease better than the placebo. Since all the poisoned people will die from poisoning with no heart disease, and since at least some of the placebo group will develop heart disease, you have the proof. All because the overall mortality rates were not factored into the results of the study.
