DENTISTS MUST WARN PATIENTS ABOUT MERCURY AMALGAMS
For literally decades the American Dental Association (ADA) and dentists have scoffed at the potential dangers of mercury amalgams (silver fillings). In fact, dentists or doctors promoting alternatives to mercury amalgams have been persecuted and openly pursued as quacks. I have been continually amazed as year after year, the ADA and its dentists stuck to the party line.
Well, after years of litigation and mountains of evidence, mercury amalgams are now recognized as toxic and a potential cause of birth defects. Finally the facts bear out and dentists must, since February 15, 2001, warn their patients of the potential dangers of mercury amalgams. Let all the protagonists and politicians who have fought to cover up the truth for all these years hang their cumulative heads in shame. |
Oh, and one more thing. Dentists in California are actually suing (unheard of in the dental profession) both the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association for their role in the mercury amalgam cover-up. I would imagine that nothing will change the attitude of any political organization faster than a shot to the wallet.
One thing does not change. Truth is timeless. It may take sometime, but the truth will come out. As for amalgams and you, I suggest you opt for one of the many alternatives to mercury fillings. As for having all your fillings removed to improve your health, that is more questionable. Proceed with extreme caution here. This is probably a treatment of last resort.
And remember, use a dentist who has experience with alternatives to mercury. If you are replacing deep mercury fillings, proceed with an experienced dentist. You can easily be left with a tooth that is overly sensitized, requiring a root canal to kill the nerve. Health Alert Volume 18 issue 10 Dr Bruce West MD |
